Choir Director 

Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Choir Director. This is a full-time, exempt position to begin in August 2024. The Choir Director is responsible for directing the school’s choral programs, preparing students for competitions and performances, assisting with the Spring musical performance, and teaching music and vocal classes. Choral groups may include small and large ensembles, show choir, and pop groups. This position works in collaboration with the Performing and Fine Arts teachers and staff and reports to the Performing Arts Department Chair and Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music or other applicable field.
• Teacher certification or equivalent preferred.
• Classroom and choral direction Experience.
• Musical theater experience beneficial.
• Recording and/or digital music skills beneficial.
• Experience in department leadership is beneficial.
• Proficient in basic technology applications, electronic grade book and curricular software and hardware). Google Apps knowledge is necessary (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
• Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Represent the school in a positive light.
• Committed to the mission and values of Houston Christian High School.

Candidates should possess a vision for excellence in Performing Arts at the high school level and a strong desire to achieve success. Qualified candidates must be skilled to provide vocal instruction, run an effective choral performing and recruiting program and be flexible to work with other artists. Effective organizational, communication, and presentation skills are necessary. Strong candidates will be energetic, creative, possess a strong work ethic and be willing to mentor students. The successful candidate will be a Christian leader with a commitment to the mission and vision of Houston Christian and its academic goals and will be passionate about the continuous development of excellence in Christian education.
