Grace Community School is looking for an outstanding, experienced, middle/high school band and orchestra director who can lead and continue to develop a well-established middle school/high school program that has a legacy of excellence. Recent band awards include the 2022 TAPPS 5A State Championship and 2023 Runner-Up, as well as the orchestra achieving the status of TAPPS 2023 State Championship. As a member of the GCS staff, this educator should be eager to integrate biblical truth into the content and methods of teaching and to collaborate with a team and be willing to embrace the core values of the school. Band and orchestra responsibilities may be divided into two positions dependent upon strengths and experience of viable candidates. 

 

This position: 

  • reports to the Director of Fine Arts and campus principals.

  • is a full time position.

  • requires a Bachelor’s degree in music education; Master’s preferred.

  •  3+ years experience teaching and directing at Middle School or High School level preferred.

  • will instruct and direct the Middle School and High School band and orchestra.

  • works with an assigned fine arts mentor.

  • promotes and coordinates student participation in co-curricular music, organizations, performances, clinics, contests, such as TPSMEA, TMEA, ATSSB and TAPPS.

  • works with a team to develop a strong Fine Arts curriculum and program.

  • requires an excellent communicator with students, families and co-workers.

  • manages the annual budget.

  • maintains and stewards facility and equipment well.
