Orchestra Director, MS Assistant (Strickland MS)

Denton ISD is searching for an Assistant Director of Orchestras for Strickland Middle School to work under the leadership of Orchestra Director, Rachel Richardson. A bachelor's degree in music (instrumental music concentration) and Texas certification are required. Secondary orchestra teaching experience and a concentration in violin/viola are preferences. This is a salaried, full-time teaching position that includes insurance benefits and a $5,000 stipend. Responsibilities include teaching Strickland orchestra classes for students in grades 6-8, orchestra and campus duties before and after school as assigned, teaching 5th grade beginner strings at nearby Ginnings and Shultz Elementary Schools, and assisting the head orchestra director with various administrative responsibilities involved with managing the orchestra program. Strickland MS has a large, comprehensive CC orchestra program, and has a tradition of consistently performing at a high level in UIL and TMEA Region 2 events. Strickland MS is a newly renovated campus with outstanding fine arts facilities, located in the Ryan HS attendance zone. Denton ISD is on the north side of the DFW Metroplex and is the 6th fastest-growing school district in the U.S. Denton ISD is well-known for its outstanding Fine Arts programs and has incredible community support for them.
