Sheldon Lake Elementary School, in growing Sheldon ISD in northeast Houston, is a beautiful and relatively new Fine Arts-themed campus for Grades 1-5 adjacent to C.E. King High School, complete with a Music Room, Practice Rooms, Black Box Theatre/Stage, Studio Art Classroom, and other modern and attractive facilities. Music is part of a Specials Rotation for all students on campus that includes Art, Drama, PE/Movement, and Library/Technology. The Music Teacher will receive an additional stipend for directing a weekly campus Honor Choir, can earn an additional stipend for sponsoring UIL Academic events like Music Memory, and can earn additional hourly wages for other Fine Arts-themed after school programming such as piano lessons, dance/step teams, instrumental music programs, etc., through a grant-funded program. We are looking for engaging, energetic, organized, and pedagogically strong music educators, who can provide student-centered instruction and make a positive impact in students' lives. Candidates with Kodaly and/or Orff Certification are preferred, but the District will financially support teachers willing to add these certifications during summer workshops. Ideal candidates would already have Music EC-12 Texas teaching certification, but degreed alternative certification program candidates can apply.
Interested candidates should apply online at www.sheldonisd.com and send resumes/cover letters to Daniel Pfannstiel, Director of Fine Arts at [email protected].
