Short Description:
Come join our successful Fine Arts/Music Department and Supportive Campus Administration at Harlingen South High School! We are looking for a motivated Head High School Orchestra Director that has a heart for people and a commitment to excellence. The program currently includes three competing ensembles - V, NV and SNV (9th grade center) with assistant high school orchestra director that also assists the MS head orchestra directors. It is primed for growth with the two middle school feeders demonstrating excellence at both UIL and TMEA and increasing in numbers and retention.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To supervise, coordinate, evaluate, and plan for the high school orchestra music activities and its feeder cluster, and the implementation thereof.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Masters preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Coordinate all secondary orchestra music activities and provide leadership and direction to the total program. (Including feeder cluster).

Act as an advisor/consultant to, and seek input from all secondary principals in the implementation of the orchestra music program.
Serve as the secondary appraiser for the orchestra music faculty in order to effectively direct, supervise and evaluate each individual and make recommendations concerning his/her assignment.
Experience:
Three years teaching and orchestra music experience
SALARY: Teacher Salary Based on years of Experience + Extra Days (215 contract) + Stipend $5,000
