Who we are:  First Baptist Church - Hamshire is a group of believers dedicated to sharing the Gospel Of Jesus Christ, seeking to make more and better disciples for Him. We also strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus by helping meet the needs of the community through outreach and service to others. 

We are a mix of multi-generational families who have lived in the area for years, as well as young families  who have recently moved here for the peace, quiet, and local school districts. We are located one hour east of Houston and only thirty minutes from Gulf waters and Crystal Beach.

In addition to our Worship Ministry, there are numerous other ministry areas in which to be involved:  Men’s and Women’s Ministries, an energetic Rejoice Children’s Ministry and Renew Youth group, Foundation Christian Academy, and several other areas in which to serve. 

Position Objective: To provide pastoral leadership to the Worship Ministries of First Baptist Church – Hamshire. 

Position Description: The Worship Pastor will oversee and coordinate all aspects of worship services. This person must be a visionary who leads people to God through creative and spirit-led worship. FBC Hamshire is a truly blended congregation that enjoys worshipping the Lord through a variety of musical styles. 

The Worship Pastor must be able to communicate direction in a way that inspires others to pursue the shared vision.  This position is a pastoral one that therefore requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical director, but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this ministry. 

 

Qualification

  1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him
  2. Commitment to moral purity
  3. Commitment to the mission and vision of FBC – Hamshire
  4. Familiar or growing in knowledge and/or use of current technology used in worship and media ministry

Experience

  1. Prior experience in leading people to the Lord through worship 
  2. Preferred experience: At least 2 years in similar ministry setting
  3. Preferred education: College degree in worship, theology, music, or a combination

 

 

 Abilities:

 

  1. A pastor as well as a musician
  2. Proficiency in music, instrumental music skills, vocals, charts, and orchestration
  3. Skilled in vocal and instrumental direction
  4. A heart for the spiritual formation of those in the congregation and the worship ministry
  5. Strong relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading a large church in worship
  6. Skilled in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships
  7. Proficient in the use of technology in worship, including sound, lighting, computer technology, Planning Center, ProPresenter, video projection, and social media
  8. Ability to incorporate other art forms as needed
  9. A self-starter
  10. A team player with a positive attitude 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship
  2. Spend time developing relationships with the lost people in order to be personally effective in pursuing the Great Commission and to help the church do the same
  3. Build the necessary teams to carry out the worship areas of FBCH, including and incorporating youth 
  4. Plan corporate worship services in consultation with the Senior Pastor and do so with prayer, planning, and preparation 
  5. Ensure all of the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day 
  6. Oversee song selection, media preparation/presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of all instrumentalists and vocalists 
  7. Serve as lead worshiper in all worship services
  8. Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services
  9. Provide pastoral care for the worship teams and choirs
  10. Introduce our worship teams and choirs to worship training provided by other ministries, books, and conferences
  11. Plan major seasonal and/or outreach musicals/dramas two to three times per year; find and plan other ways to use music and drama to reach out to the community evangelistically 
  12. Oversee the worship department budget, organization, and volunteers
  13. Communicate and evaluate needs of the sanctuary/worship center with the committee and work with committee chairman in preparing yearly budget 
  14. Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with our vision and evaluate progress toward those goals annually
