Overview
We are seeking a visionary Artistic Director to lead and shape the creative direction of our organization. This role involves overseeing all aspects of artistic development, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring alignment with our brand identity and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation and background in choral conducting and experience with advanced choral performance, with a specialty in a cappella choral performance. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to establish and elevate a distinctive artistic vision with an established ensemble that currently enjoys a reputation of excellence in the local, regional, and national arts communities .

Duties

  • · Creates an artistic vision for Voices of Fort Worth that inspires singers and audiences; and demands excellence in performance
  • · Actively recruits and auditions new singers, while forging special relationships with high-level choirs in the area.
  • · Balances the choir’s musical heritage and traditions with the incorporation of new ideas from emerging composers and styles
  • · Advances the organization’s values and strategic goals.
  • · Serves as Voices of Fort Worth’s principal conductor at choir rehearsals, performances, public appearances, etc..
  • · Creates and promotes a rehearsal atmosphere and artistic product that satisfies and nurtures singers' artistic growth and vocal well-being by creating programs and using rehearsal strategies that respect vocal health and demonstrate knowledge of the voice as a unique instrument.
  • · Plans artistic programs, tours, commissions, recording sessions and digital performances for future seasons while preparing and presenting the current season’s offerings.
  • · Partners with the Board to assure the fiscal health and organizational stability of Voices of Fort Worth
  • · Meets and communicates personally with donors and stakeholders to secure resources and inspire participation.
  • · Researches musical sources and continues to keep current in musical trends for choir and a cappella choral literature
  • · Cultivates partnerships with diverse artists and arts organizations that express the desire for equity and justice; providing rich musical experiences and making choices that bear witness to the ideals that the organization espouses.
  • · Programs concerts that are more than a set of songs but rather an immersive experience that seeks deeper meaning; creatively employing venues and to enhance the performance experience.
  • · Ensures that new and continuing Voices of Fort Worth singers enjoy a welcoming, respectful, and artistically challenging environment that builds and sustains the choir’s inclusive and convivial culture.
  • · Attends Board meetings as a non-voting member and keeps the Board up to date on choir activities; representing the choir at conferences and other appropriate gatherings and staying current on trends in choral music programming and artistry
  • · Supervises the operations manager, section leaders and Assistant Director.
  • · Performs such other job duties as is typical of someone in such a position and other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree(s) in Choral Conducting and/or Music Education
  • Proven record of successful experience in the field of advanced choral performance
  • Availability to conduct weekly rehearsals
  • Knowledge of advanced a cappella choral literature
  • Ability to work with instrumentalists or ensembles if required
  • Candidates who are chosen as one of 3 finalists must be available to plan and execute 1 concert during the 2026-2027 concert season

Timeframe:

Application materials are now being accepted.  Deadline for application submissions is April 30, 2026

Finalists will be notified no later than May 15.

5-7 candidates will be chosen for an initial virtual interview with Board members and the Artistic Director.  Following these interviews, and final 3 candidates will be selected and plans will be made for those candidates to plan and conduct one concert during the 2026-2027 season.  Upon the conclusion of the 2026-2027 season, the announcement will be made of the final selection.
