The Abilene Wylie Choir program is seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-centered Choir Director to lead a growing Junior High Choral program. The ideal candidate is a strong music educator who values, excellence, relationships, and creating a positive classroom culture where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to love music.

The position includes directing Junior High choir ensembles, preparing students for concerts and contests, and collaborating with campus and district fine arts staff to support a thriving vocal music program. The position also includes serving as Musical Director for the East Junior High musical production and possibly assisting with theatre arts productions as part of the campus Fine Arts team.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Direct and teach all East Junior High Choir classes/ensembles
-Prepare students for concerts, UIL, auditions, Solo contest, and other performances
-Teach healthy vocal technique, music literacy, and sight-reading skills
-Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
-Support recruitment and retention of students in the Choir program
-Collaborate with Fine Arts staff across the district
-Serve as Musical Director for the annual East Junior High musical
-Assist with a Theatre Productions class, other theatre productions, and related fine arts activities as assigned
-Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration
-Attend and support Choir Booster Club meetings and events
-Assist with concerts, trips, contests, and other choir-related events as needed

Program Information
-150 students in the East JH Choir program
-130 students in the HS Choir program
-Strong vertical alignment between junior high and high school programs
-Collaborative, team-oriented Choir department
-Stipend for additional duties, on top of the district teaching salary schedule

Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (or related field)
-Valid Texas teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
-Strong organizational and classroom management skills
-Experience with musical theatre productions or vocal directing is preferred
-Piano skills and familiarity with UIL procedures and literature are a plus
-Commitment to building a positive and successful Choir culture
